...Welcomes you all!!!
As my first duty as Chair person I'd like to say a big Hello and welcome you all to the Comets Lacrosse Team for the season 2007/08! Last season saw tremendous development in all aspects of the club, particularly the men’s team who finished the season with a promotion to the South of England East 1st division; and also to the Mixed team who also improved considerably this year winning more games than other seasons combined!
As well as the games we played we also enjoyed some fantastic social events… Pub golf in St Albans, ‘Backyard drinking Olympics’ and Laser Quest to name a few, as well as almost every Saturday night in the Font celebrating a win and proudly wearing our social shirts! The year culminated in our first trip to Bluesfest Tournament where we ended the season with a fantastic weekend of lacrosse, beer and fancy dress; we were by far the biggest and best tribe of Indians Lacrosse has ever seen!
It has been an unforgettable year, enjoyed by all, but as times change, we must say a fond farewell and good luck to some of our players who are off to pastures new…Founding members James Restell, and Samantha Darlington as well as Tom Humphrey, Hugo Coelho, Alex Heron, Mike Thomas and our very own Team England Box Lacrosse player Derek Gaughan.
As a relatively new club, we learn from our experiences every year, making the club bigger and better each season, with a new committee recently elected, we have lots of ideas to develop the club further this season.
The comets have exciting times ahead with plans to get the Women’s team up and running with help from Welwyn Warriors, and also plans to start a second men’s team. As one of the more social clubs at Herts, our priorities are enjoying the game, having fun, and having a drink after!
We are always keen for new players, no experience or equipment necessary, we also welcome back any players from previous seasons who want to give lacrosse another go!
So i look forward to seeing all new faces as well as teh old regulars back in September raring to go!
